TROY, MICHIGAN – Attorney David Carl Anderson has announced his candidacy for Oakland County Circuit Court Judge. Mr. Anderson is seeking one of the two judicial seats becoming available this year on the Oakland bench due to the retirement of Judges Steven N. Andrews and Judge Fred M. Mester. The primary is scheduled for August 5, 2008 and the general election will be held on November 4, 2008.
A graduate of Adrian College, Summa Cum Laude, and the Detroit College of Law, where he was a member and published author on the Law Review, Mr. Anderson was admitted to practice in 1977. He is a former Adjunct Professor of Banking Law at the Detroit College of Law, and the founder and principal of the Law Office of David C. Anderson, P.C. in Troy, Michigan.
A lifelong resident of Oakland County, Mr. Anderson has maintained an active trial practice throughout the State of Michigan for over 30 years. Martindale-Hubbell, the prestigious publisher of the National Directory of Attorneys has rated Mr. Anderson as a lawyer with “very high legal ability.”
Mr. Anderson has conducted over 100 civil and criminal jury trials. In addition, he performs extensive Alternative Dispute Resolution work and serves as Mediator or Arbitrator in both general civil and family law cases. He is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, Family Mediation Council - Michigan, and is an approved Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association, handling all types of civil disputes. He is a court-approved Case Evaluator, Mediator and Arbitrator in numerous counties throughout the State of Michigan.
Mr. Anderson is a sustaining member of the Oakland County Bar Association, an active member of the Board of Directors and Diversity Committee, and a Bar Foundation Life Fellow. He is also a sustaining member of both the Michigan Association for Justice and the Michigan Defense Council.
He is actively involved in his community. Mr. Anderson is a member of the City of Troy Elections Committee, past President of the Stoneridge Homeowners Association and the attorney for the Congregational Church of Birmingham. He also works with the South Oakland Shelter Program for the homeless, the Oakland County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, the Lighthouse food distribution program for the poor, and the Oakland County Jail Ministry Program.
Mr. Anderson is married to Judge Martha D. Anderson, who currently serves on the Oakland County Circuit Court bench. They are parents to a daughter who is a teacher.
